sean bell's home in seattle, an article i found in an old copy of nw home. he is an unlicensed architect who builds his own homes.
i love his methodology in choosing sustainable materials, ones that last long and require little up-keep.
i also like his window placements which creates a dynamic atmosphere of a snug den and a lofty barn. the downstairs has the north end tucked against a hillside with little windows if any at all and at the south end it opens up with floor-to-ceiling natural light.
the room placement in the narrow lot also feels very livable, with the family room positioned at the entrance which is also the cozy enclosed end of the home (perfect for movie nights).
and having the living room on the opposite side as the dining but set right off the kitchen gives it more "livable" location and the opening view and light draws relaxation.
i also like the staircase
and the loftiness of the upstairs with the long open hall
